VHF Spectra

Post by ABANAKA »

I have a need to switch a control head on a VHF Spectra. I have repaired a Spectra (T83FWA7HA5AK) which had no receive audio out. I found a VHF Spectra (T83FWA7HA9AK) which had no power out. I remove the command board from this one and put it in the first Spectra. Now I have audio out. The problem I have now is I need to switch the repaired Spectra which had the small head A5 head to a X9000 head. The software will only allow me to change the heads to an enhanced or rotory head, X9000 is not listed. I read the bad Spectra and it shows the X9000 as well as the other heads. How do I can I install the X9000 head on this repaired Spectra?

I have switch MLM boards but it still doesn't show the X9000 in the list. Also both Spectras have dual head ports.

Thanks for any help
Mike

It might have been easier to swap the power amp boards and realign the output power/current limiter. Either way, you're going to have to realign (because all of the adjustable parameters follow the command board and MLM).

If you moved both the command board and the MLM board from the A9 radio to the A5 radio, you shouldn't have any problems. All the info about control heads and modes should have moved with it. If you're still having problems, you will probably need to bitbang with the Lab RSS (but highly unlikely).

This site has the bitbang info for the control heads

Changing control heads involves getting the moflags right, changing the model #, and changing the control head type. See the chart at the bottom of the page. It summarizes everything.

PM me if you still have problems.
