CM300 programming question

does anyone know what the CM300 programming errors are;??

specifically 512 and 768??

I've tried 2 different RIBs and 3 different cables?? I know the radio is fine!

Are you using a maxtrac cable? You have to short a couple pins to make it work on a CM300

tried that. thought it might be something with the rib since i'm getting 2 different errors??

Those are connectivity errors. The CPS is telling you it can't talk to the radio....but you already knew that.
To program a CM, you have to use the flashing adapter on the end of your rib/ribless programming cable. FKN8096A

wondering if this problem was ever solved, as I am having same one (I can use same cables on another computer & everything works fine)

Sarge is correct, you NEED the flash adaptor inline in order to program the CM300 radio.

It's NOT the same as a standard 'Trac when it comes to programming.

Just make sure the switch is set to CPS and NOT flash!

Ernest, I have found an 8 pin banjo works just fine for shorting pins 6 and 8

I'm using (or attempting to anyway) OEM cables with flash adapter. I think it is something in computer settings, I checked and compared all settings that i know for conflicts, tried different com settings in BIOS, & un/re-installed software. Having the problem on 2 newer Dells one desktop & one laptop, I use the same cables on another brand desktop & all works perfect, all 3 are running XP. Another thing that has me puzzled is I can program other brand radios ( kenwood, yaesu/vertex, midland) using the Dells without a problem.

shut down everything else except the cps, some other program may be running and trying to control that port. and unplug things you don't need like pda's, mp3 players, and anything else you don't need to program the radio.

The GTF374B CM programming cable does not require use of the FKN8096A flash adapter to program CM radios, and the only difference between the GTF cable and the Maxtrac cable is a 1K 1/4W resistor between mic connector pins 6 & 8.

it's not a resistor, it's a hard line jumper between pins 6 & 8 and it absolutely has to be there to operate. the only other thing in the adaptor is a switch that connects pin 7 to pins 6 & 8 to boot the radio.

OK, Jeff, have it your way....but my GTF374B Mot schematic shows a 1K resistor between 6&8 in mine. I'm sure it's not critical whether there's a short or a 1K to A+ because the current is very low. The 1K resistor was probably built into the GTF cable to limit current in the event of a short anywhere in the cable or the radio.

i have the overpriced oem factory adaptor/flash cable and i took it apart to see what they did and there is no resistors anywhere in the housing or any other type of electronics except a switch, the wires from pin 6 & 8 go directly to one side of the switch crossing them and pin 7 goes to the other side of the switch. the others were strait thru, very simple and basic. the mcs uses a resistor.

I know this is an old post, but I am having some troubles getting my cm300 to program.

I have a maxtrac cable, and I see here that I need to short pins 6 and 8 to make it work for the cm300. when we say pins 6 and 8 are we talking about looking at the front of the radio and counting pins left to right?

motorola actually starts pin 1 opposite of the networking world but pin 2 & 5 are used on the maxtrac cable so pin 8 is on the opposite side of 2, 5 would be in the middle.

Ok, I got that all figured out, now i'm at the next hurdle. I get the "region not supported" error and i figured out by reading on here that I have the Asian version of the software 5.05, and the region hack says its for 6.0 and up but im going to give it a try anyway.

The latest version for CM300 is 5.07, so it sounds to me like you're looking at the region hack for the HT/CDM series software.
