Greetings,
I just got a VHF XTS2500 on eBay. I have a GP250 and an HT1250, both of which I like I a lot.
The BatLabs page for the Astro / XTS notes that you can usually pull the XTSs out of band by 10 or 15 mhz in either direction.
1) Does anyone know if the XTS are DDS or PLL synthesized?
2) What happens if I code a freq that it can't lock to? Will it generate an error, not tell me and just have no results, brick it...
<edited for content>
I just want to know how I can tell if I've pushed the range too far.
Thanks,
-Jack

Re: XTS2500 Out of Band mod
It will generate a FAIL 001 on the screen with a long low pitched tone. It certainly (as far as I know) won't brick it because you put in a out of band frequency, BUT, if you hex edit the wrong spot on the CPS, than you CAN brick your radio.crepincdotcom wrote: 2) What happens if I code a freq that it can't lock to? Alright thanks. Will it completly lock up with the Fail message, or can I still turn the knob to a new frequency?

Re: XTS2500 Out of Band mod
My XTS5000 does not lock up and does allow me to change channels after getting the FAIL 001. I am sure the 2500 does the same thing.
