MC1000 Manual

Post by Param-A-Dic »

i'm in the process of reconfiguring a tone remote system at work and one of the remotes is an MC1000. no one can seem to find the manual and i need to reconfigure it a bit.

...long story short...the system consists of a comtegra console controlling two radios (one VHF one UHF). the MC1000 is tied in on the VHF line. both systems are 2 wire circuits. but i am setting it up so that the MC1000 can monitor the UHF radio by using the 4 wire RX pair and the take over switch so that you can disable the UHF RX.
thats all well and good and it all works like i want, except that while transiting on the MC1000 (VHF) the audio from the UHF radio is still heard over the speaker. it doesn't make any difference how you transmit, with the big red button or the handset, the UHF audio is always heard.

so in an effort to eliminate any unneeded background noise and to avoid any potential feed back (one of the UHF frequencies is the link to dispatch for one of the VHF frequencies) while transmitting, i would like to find out what the dip switch settings are and if there is one to mute the speaker while transmitting.

you might ask...why not just put the MC1000 on the UHF line? well , there is a reason, but to explain it would require describing how our entire dispatch system works and how we have multiple transmittier sites that are tied to the dispatch office through different means; microwave, UHF link, phone line ect...
so the answer is i've though about it, but as things stand now it is not the best solution.

so if anyone has an MC1000 manual handy and can pass it on via e-mail or at least post the basic configuration info that would be great.
thanks for any help

Odd, the handsfree speaker is normally muted when the handset is off-hook (you can temporarily enable it by pressing the "speaker" button, which will indicate enabled with the green "speaker" LED). It is also normally muted when the handsfree (large TX) button is pressed.

There are no dipswitches to enable/disable features, they are programmable by entering a programming mode & using the buttons. It is not intuitive, in fact it's a PITA. There is a setting to choose between 2-wire, 4-wire, 4-wire duplex, and 4-wire full duplex operation. I suspect it may be either set for 4-wire full duplex, or possibly 2-wire, which might cause it to ignore what might be happening in the 4-wire RX pair. If you PM me your email address, I will ensure you get the applicable pages.
