M1225 mobile (audio distortion)

Post by radioservice »

I have a customer with a Motorola M1225 4 channel UHF mobile and they are getting a terrible amount of alternator whine through the speaker. The same vehicle with a different radio acts fine. Take the suspect radio and put it in another vehicle and the problem follows the radio....

I know a filter is probably in my future, but I wonder if there isn't a problem with the radio?

Help!

Yeah, there's a problem with the radio.. the problem is it's an M1225. I used to come across that problem quite a bit with them, sometimes tightening the circuit board and antenna jack nut would help... sometimes not, and they'd end up going to depot. If I recall correctly, depot's solution was a new board. You can try a filter.. might do the trick.
