Help with Spectra

Post by cahilj »

First, let me say I have no background in radios, so some of what you tell me will be Greek, but I'm a quick learner. I've done some research into Spectras, and found out what I could, so I'm somewhat there.

I purchased a Spectra (ID# is T43KMA7JA9AK) online while in Iraq, and when I got home last fall, I found out I had no way to program it (stupid mistake on my part). I ended up buying an Icom and the Spectra has sat in the box since then. I have tried to sell it a few times in various places, but I have had two issues with possible buyers-

1- Since I can't program it, I'm not able to actually test it. It powers up, but I have no idea what frequencies are programmed in, so, short of spending days with a scanner, is there any way to test RX/TX not knowing the frequencies?

2- I don't know the range. I opened it up and looked for the RF modules, but I didn't see any type of code or marking on them to let me know what they are, but I might possibly have been looking in the wrong place.

Any help anyone can give me, wether its a link to some info, or a picture or whatever would be great. Thanks in advance.

Scroll down to the TEST MODE section, specifically the TST FREQ portion. This should help you determine what bandsplit the radio is as well as testing it.
