I am a volunteer with the local FD. They will be retiring
their fleet of MT2000 radios sometime soon. The county will
eventually be going to narrow band VHF. The volunteer group
might be able to get the old MT2000 radios. I have a couple
of questions:
1) Can all VHF MT2000 HT's be programmed with narrow band
channels?
2) Is there a AA case available for the MT2000 HT. If so,
what is the model number and typical price?

Only down to 12.5khz. Not for the newer 2.5khz spacing which is "really narrowband".n6fnp wrote:1) Can all VHF MT2000 HT's be programmed with narrow band channels?
There are still OEM and aftermarket "clamshells" out there. They're not seen as often as they used to be though. I see them on eBay once in a while.n6fnp wrote:2) Is there a AA case available for the MT2000 HT. If so,

I have a 4-page PDF Motorola illustrated catalog brochure on the MT2000. It shows all the specs, features and models. If you'd like a copy send me a PM with your e-mail addy.

Actually, the MT2000 will do splinter channels with firmware greater than 2.13

The radio will do narrowband, but does not have companding. If used in a system that uses companding (like is available in the pro series), the MTS2000 will sound quiet when listening on a pro series radio.

Thanks for all of the responses for my post. I'll recommend that they keep the radios for the
volunteer group.
