Question about XTL or Astro Spectras

Post by ILuvXMRadio »

Ok so here is what i want to accomplish... but I'm not quite sure how to do it if its possible.

If I remember correctly, I noticed an astro spectra setup for sale in the FS section that had a W3 head but controlled 2 radios.. Was I wrong?

So that gets me to thinking about that..... What I would love to do is have a W3 or O3 setup that could handle 3 radios.. V/U/and 700/800.

Certainly I'm not familiar with how this is done so anyone who can shed some light on this, please feel free to ramble on and on. I don't mind reading. :)

Can this be done? how is it controlled? How is it connected? Is 2 the max? or can you have 3?

Thanks in advance everyone.

can be done now using the W3 control head (2 radios)

coming soon to a multi-radio config near you with the O3 head in firmware 13 (?) or 14 (?)

Forgive the lack of experience, but how is it controlled? Can you monitor both radios simultaneously? how are vol, etc selected or controlled for each independent radio?

What is required to utilize two radios?

COMING SOON.

that means it's not out for general consumption yet. from what i understand, a daisy chain cable will be required, along with some intricate programming.

i dont know yet how the radios will behave.... would be worthless if you can't get audio from all 3, all 5, whatever - at the same time tho....

i think 2-3 months and this will be a common option ... as of now, it's not available

Sources tell me that the O3 dual radio is now out and offically supported, but I have not seen anything on MOL for documentation, etc.

The O5 multi-radio will be released shortly. Currently its still only being used by one agency, and is somewhat under wraps. I think they are just making sure that any bugs have been worked out.

There is also a new feature that will be available for the XTL's coming out soon that many will enjoy, but I'll leave that hanging out there for now ;)

Any speculation on this setup will enable crossband repeater function like the 90 series Kenwood radios?

The agency we service here has XTLs VHF/UHF with an O5 head. It works pretty slick. The cabling has two speaker plugs, similar to the cabling for the HHCH. I do NOT miss the ASN boxes....
