KVL3000+ o5 control head loading code?

Post by Rikerlee »

I have a XTL5000 with o5 control head and a KVL3000+ code loader to loade code. We have the adapter to load code in the mic connector on the o5 control head. We are in astro25 mode. This works on our other boats but for some reason cant get it to load on 2 other boats in a differant area. Any ideas on why we are having difficulty loading code the same way on these 2 boats? KVL firmware is the same number as the other KVL and the codeplugs on all the radios are the same. We have reloaded the code plugs on these radios as well. Any insight would be appreciated thank you.

do the 2 radios that fail to load display KEYLOADING on the display when the cable is connected?

- if not, what is displayed?

are they also O5 control head units?

are you ABSOLUTELY sure that the codeplugs are the same and that PID keyloading is not enabled on those two units? (that would required your KVL3000+ to be in ASN mode vice ASTRO25)

topic moved to astro forum.

I resent them the codeplugs so yes I am absolutly sure the codeplugs are the same. I also went through the kvl setup to ensure they are in astro25 mode so I am sure that we are in the right mode of opperation. As to what is displayed on the O5 remote head while connected I am not sure. I am trying to troubleshoot this over the phone so cant see what they are seeing. Yes these 2 boats are using the O5 remote heads. They were able to load code directly into the brick itself using the red port. My other boat here locally is out and about atm and wont be back untill the 11th to compare what they are doing to what these other folks are doing. I got other information saying you cant load code (crypto) by the mic connector on the O5 remote head. If this is true then I wonder why my other boat has had no problems then.? Thanks again.
