XTS3000's Rotary Control backlash
Hi all!
I get NIB (like NIB) XTS3000.
But find out that the Rotary Control has a small backlash on rotation - near 0.06" (1,5 mm).
It is normal or radio was roughly used/rotary has been struck & etc.?

1. I hate it;
2. Channel number is not accurately clear if not to look at the display.

You can easily replace the case. The case, when sold, usually includes
the electronics and ribbon cable which connects to the volume control,
top switch, red button, and the channel switch. The prices on eBay for
a good, used XTS5000 case run between USD $40 and $80. You can also
get one from Motorola but for a lot more in cost.
There should not be any backlash or sloppiness on the indicator switch.

It sounds like the escutcheon did not get placed on the insert/retainer correctly. I have had one like this also, and yes it's a pain to look at. Just get a new insert, and try that. I don't have the P/N here, but they are only about $2.50. It is not the same P/N as the 5000 though.

Why? Case is new! It really looks on 9.9 from 10. No dins, no scratches & etc.Tom in D.C. wrote:You can easily replace the case. The case, when sold, usually includes

Ok, guys, thanks!
Just this is my first XTS3000. But XTS2500 has considerably smaller backlash.

The 2500 is also a few years newer than a 3000. Anything that rotates will have (eventually) some wiggle room.
Lowband radio. The original and non-complicated wide area interoperable communications system

XTS2500 with which I played have noticeably smaller backlash.Pj wrote:The 2500 is also a few years newer than a 3000. Anything that rotates will have (eventually) some wiggle room.
I will try to look that there with inserts in this XTS3K...

EVERY XTS3000 I've ever seen does that. Mine do it. It's just the design.MotoFAN wrote:XTS2500 with which I played have noticeably smaller backlash.Pj wrote:The 2500 is also a few years newer than a 3000. Anything that rotates will have (eventually) some wiggle room.

The XTS2500 is totally different and uses totally different knobs, switches, inserts, everything.
The two radios should not be compared, they aren't even in the same series.

Yes, as everyone has said, completely normal. My XTS 3K does this as well.
