Thought I would ask the experts before shipping one off to the depot.
We have a couple XTL5000 (800 Mhz.) that have issues with intermittent reception. The officers explain that they have good RSSI, but they are missing dispatches. They know this because they have pulled up beside another officer and heard a dispatch come out, but not over their radio.
Has anyone experienced similar problems? If so, what's the solution?
Thanks!

Re: XTL5000 Reception Problem
The first question I would have is who installed the antenna? Has the reflected power been checked recently?
By any chance has the radio been benched recently to make sure the receiver meets sensitivity specs?
There are a number of reasons for experiencing poor reception. None of them can be checked out without
the use of test equipment.
You could have a simple problem such as the antenna cable on the radio has a loose connection.

Check with Motorola, there was a recent FSB on this problem with intermittant RX.

If the lights are out when you leave the station and then come on the second you key up, you know you have enough power.
Re: XTL5000 Reception Problem
Same problem with the XTS5000. It doesn't matter if your scanning or not. This only happens on the 3600 type II system I'm on. No problem with the 9600 systems. Running R11.00.03 firmware. The radio unmutes properly *most* of the time, but maybe 15% of the time the first 1-2 seconds are cut off (muted). The system admin said no one else has complained about this problem yet. The other TG's programmed into the radio, I hear the guys saying 10-9, repeat, etc. all the time.
Starting to think it's a programming issue - something not set up properly
