Jedi RF board--low power output

Post by DPL »

I have two UHF R split RF boards that both exhibit very low transmit power (haven't measured it, but it seems as if the PA has died). Has anyone had experience with this problem? Just wondering if it's a common issue, and if so, if it's fixable.

It's a fairly common thing. Unfortunately, they really aren't user serviceable due to the way the PA block is mounted to the board.

What radios do you own?: MTSX2000, HT600, HT1000, XTL50

They can be replaced, but it is a pain. I preheat the thing up with a mini torch to get the PA off. snip the leads prior to heating. I have probably dont a dozen or so with success.

check to see if it draws normal current on tx, if so check the antenna switch on top of the RF board near antenna tangs. Sometimes the antenna switch goes bad...
