help with encryption on xts5000
I am new to encryption stuff. I have managed to load a couple keys into a couple xts5000's. When I turn on the encryption the opposite radio will not allow the radio traffic to pass through. Both radios have the same keys and the same encryption modules. I am sure I am missing something simple. Any ideas?

Check to see if the channel on both radios is set to SECURENET (Analog) or ASTRO (Digital).

Is both the CKR and Key Management Mode enabled?
In the Conv. Personality screen, is the des-xl tx default enabled or disabled for both radios?
What is the secure/clear strapping field set to for both radios?

sense this is my first time with encryption, I would be willing to send the codeplug to someone who can walk me though setting it up.

You may have an issue with one or both radios being out of alignment. They don't have to be out by much for encryption and digital modes to fail to communicate.
Get the radios fully aligned if at all possible.

That was it. Had both checked today. 1 was needing alignment. Ø now working great. Thanks for all the repliesElroy Jetson wrote:You may have an issue with one or both radios being out of alignment. They don't have to be out by much for encryption and digital modes to fail to communicate.
