XTS5K Strange Alert Tone on End of TX?

Post by WCHija »

I made some programming changes to my 5K and now it makes the power up self test sound after I TX. Analog, Digital, Repeater, Simplex, it doesn't matter it always makes this sound. I tried retracing my steps to figure out what I did and can find the problem.
Help.

Not to sound harsh, but this is what shows up with people trying to program radios with a lack of
understanding of what they are doing or how the radio works. Why do you think that trunking
system managers go out of their mind when they find a radio programmed by an unauthorized
person.

With that said, I would make a first guess that you might have the MDC signaling turned on in the post
TX mode. You haven't told us what it sounds like. There is also a DTMF signaling. It could be that.

Take a look at this in your radio wide drop down, and see if it's checked...

Stupidity creates job security!

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

It was the TPS, thank you very much. As for the untrained making changes to the radio my options are to use the Department issued p200 or do it this way. Which would you choose?

MX300 with the MODAT option? :)

At least it would be a step up from the P200...

Does anyone know if this option is available on the MT2000?

TPS isn't avail for the 2000, however some radios around the time it was introduced (notable the saber) is the post PTT sidetone for MDC. Gets annoying after awhile as you would have the same amount of boooooooooooooooooooop on the end as you would on the beginning.
