Fail 01/90 on Spectra

Post by btrains »

Hello group,

A while ago I had some audio issues and TX issues with my Spectra, caused by leaking caps. I need to replace these caps, but I don't know which ones are good replacements. I have a friend who can help me install them, he just needs me to buy the parts. Is there anywhere with a decent parts list for new caps?

In the mean time, my Spectra is having a slightly odd, hopefully cureable, issue. The Spectra has no problems TX and RX with decent power output, but when I press the Dim button to turn on the backlights, the radio starts rebooting over and over, and once in a while displays Fail 01/90. Is this cureable, or should I just start looking for another Spectra?

Thanks!

Brad,

Several things or should I say components, can cause the FAIL 01/90 problem.

Changing out the leaking/leaked capacitors may do the job. But sometimes the leaking caps have already damaged the circuitry.

I can repair them here.
