TIER 3 Grille Lights in Impalla

Post by KB2ZTX »

My friend stopped by last night with 2 tier 3 led modules he wants to install in his impalla. I think it is an 03/04. I searched all around inside the grill and can't find a good spot to mount these and still see the lights when on. What have others done to put these in with out mounting them to the face of the grill. Its an undercover car, so I'd like to protect them to a point.

Thats been an issue with the Impala for some time. This is the best I can do for you right now:

Short of cutting the slats in the grill or buying a bigger lighthead, there really isn't a good solution.
In God we trust. Everyone else, we run through NCIC, Thinkstream, and III.

Did they save the Code3 Supervisor and the other lights?

We were able to salvage the radio, control box and some of the LEDs but the bar as a whole was bent pretty badly. We mostly used it for spare parts on the other undercover vehicles

Honestly.. if it was me I'd get a LS front bumper with the fog light cutouts, and stick colored strobes or LED packs in the fog light housings. Having a LS front on the car will also enhance its non-cop appearance to an extent. Granted it won't work with your TIR3s, but it's something to think about for future installs.

What size are the fog lights? I'd be looking at retrofitting the Charger TIR6 foglights into the LS bumper... bright as hell and wacker-sexy!

Not big enough for the Charger fog light replacements, that's for sure. The Impala fog light cutouts also have the marked disadvantage of being rectangular and long, as opposed to round.

A hideaway strobe will fit nicely in a stock LS fog light housing.

Ah, didn't realize they were round. Wimpalas suck IMO, so I don't keep good tabs on them.
