Is there an Astro Saber repair specialist in the house?

Post by Elroy Jetson »

My VHF Astro Saber III (whoreflashed, 599108-1C5E00-1) is giving a FAIL 02/90 error.

It's done that before and resoldering U404, the EEPROM, cured it. But not this time.

So, who's good at repairing VOCON boards? Or at least can swap out my features onto another good vocon board?

At the very least, tell me which chip to swap from the bad board to a good one so I can retire a less useful Astro Saber (UHF low split with hack problems anyway)
and keep my VHF unit up and running?

I've never gone THAT far into Astros!

Elroy, I know you will have checked the conector blocks for alignment but have you double checked them? Also check the flex where it attaches to the headers and check that the spring hasen't leaked from the header contacts?
