xts2500i from Panter88

Post by n1oty »

I see that Panter has some 2500i's in the 450-512 "S" split with Host and DSP of R07.00.00, 8 M vocon and the infamous 123ABC1234. Has anyone bought one of these and are you pleased with it, or are these hot and best avoided?

Thanks,
John

I don't have an S split, but I have both a VHF and UHF R that I got from him. They both work just fine. Some of his units will need an alignment. They are not "hot". I would not use one in any kind of mission critical environment though.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'm more concerned with the obviously bogus serial number. What's your opinion of the older firmware 07.00.00?

I wouldn't call it "bogus"

Just pre-production :)

that firmware is older than dirt and you'll be missing out on a number of options, most specifically QCII decode, enhanced FPP, channel announcement and also I think text messaging but don't quote me on the last one

bright side is they are 8 meg controllers so they'll accept firmware higher than 9.... current fw is at 12 and from what I understand the release of 13 should be out before the end of the year....

............So, is it possible to pay the money to a legit M dealer and get a radio like this flashed to newer firmware and get it aligned, or is the serial number issue going to preclude doing an FW upgrade?

Thanks,
John

I was thinking of getting one of these bad boys from him. I saw that he lives in Hong Kong, so I got a little nervous. Any problems with shipping issues ??
Back on topic, I've read that he's also selling some XTS2500's with FPP, for a little higher, but MUCH less then a "legit" tagged radio, I wonder if I should take the plunge.

Well, I can't talk about the radio itself yet, as I have not played with it. I can say that Panter ships VERY FAST. I ordered it on the weekend and received it the following Thursday (4 business days). In my book, coming from Hong Kong, that's fast.

I've bought lots of accessories from him & XTS shell housings. He's a great guy to deal with. No worries!

Well, that's good to hear, I'm a little more confident now, knowing that his shipping and product are good.
I'll give him a go.

Hello I've read all the post here. But I didn't see a response to one important email that i am interested in.. Can I send the radio to M and have the firmware upgrade? Can you do it yourself? Any Idea how much?

Thanks Rick

If it has a 123ABC1234 serial number don't expect the DEPOT to service it at all and don't expect any honest MSS to touch it.
