Crossbanding XTL5K?

Post by wkr518 »

Is multi radio config same as crossband? I need to do a VHF /UHF crossband on XTL5K with a W3 head in both Analog and Digital modes.
Thanks for any advise or tips.

I've connected an XTL5K to a Quantar repeater as a cross-band setup for interop comms using an external controller. You could easily do it the same way. The pin-out for J2 on the back of the radio is:

Pin 23 Aux mic (TX Audio)
Pin 16 External PTT
Pin 21 RX filtered audio (RX Audio)
Pin 13 Chan Activity (COR-Active high)

It works very well. Can't even tell it's patched. It will even pass digital - at least from the XTL to the Quantar, but not the other way 'cause I don't have a DIU. Won't be an issue in your case, though. I hope you are talking about two separate XTL's, not two with one head, don't think that would work.
