XTL5000 Release 12 & DTMF

Post by St-ranger »

I am new to the Moto world, as a federal land management officer/fire fighter I have spent my career working with BK Relm. We now have a Moto system in my park and I really like it but need to learn how to set up one thing (right now). I am using CPS R12.00 for both the XTS 2500 and XTL 5000 (conventional). The rangers need to be able to access systems using DTMF. I want to make it so that they can key in DTMF tones live on the keypad (Mic on XTL and front keys on XTS). When I go into the personalities it won't allow me to check the box where the keys can be activated for this purpose (greyed out). What do I need to set up first to allow this to happen, and how do I do it?

Thx

Without my CPS in front of me (at work) I believe it\\\'s under radio wide and \\\"HOT KEYPAD\\\" I think is what your need to set up. Someone correct me if I\\\'m wrong. (someone most definitely will 8) )

If the conventional personality is set to transmit in digital then the
hot keypad option gets disabled. The keypad option should work straight
out of the box, so double-check your transmit settings per channel on
the conventional personality list.

Thx, I enabled "DTMF Mic Enable" will that do it alone or do I enable "Hot Keypad" as well or instead. For "Hot Keypad" CPS Help says that it allows the user to key in the DTMF while the PTT is held down, even when not in Phone. Help says DTMF can be entered, doesn't mention Hot Keypad, or Phone, if not Rx only and not digital (that is the way I have the personalities set for these channels).

Thx again

Phone - hit the button, type in the number, hit SEL, and it sends it at a preprogrammed rate/spacing.
Hot Keypad - Hold the TX button on the mic and hit the numeric keys on the control head. The DTMF tone will sound as long as you hold the button.
DTMF Mic - enables DTMF Mic functionality. I believe this is hold-TX-plus-push-buttons.

I've jumped into my XTS5000 program and am getting nowhere. Problem is
that my zone 1/channel actuates the PTT and DTMF via touchpad presses,
but I don't get the same result on the other channels that are enabled to
transmit. I'll keep messing with the CPS unless some kind soul jumps in to
straighten us both out on this. The touchtones work via PTT and the pad
but I want them to work on all transmit channels via the pad only, which,
as I said, it now does only on the lowest zone and channel 1.

The help menu on the CPS11 I'm using is somewhat helpful but not enough,
obviously. The one thing it is clear about is that digital transmissions can
not be used to transmit touchtone tones; the transmission must be analog FM.

More later as it happens.

I had never paid that much, if any, attention to the DTMF settings on my
5Ks until your post got me interested. Turns out you need to enable both
the Hot Keypad box and the DTMF Mic Enable box which in the CPS 11 are right
next to each on the TX options list per channel. I straightened out all of
my active, transmit, FM channels and now the keypad press activates both
the PTT and the DTMF tone.

Live and learn.
