I have never got myself a model 1 ASTRO25 line radio before so I was wondering if anyone ever opened a model I radio and find out whether or not it is possible to upgrade a Model 1 to a 1.5 (that is, with display) radio. I have a strong feeling that the answer is probably no but I want to find out for sure.
Thanks

MT/XTS1500 Model 1 to 1.5?

Re: MT/XTS1500 Model 1 to 1.5?
Though I cannot say for sure, my guess would be that it would not work. This being that the radios have different physical model numbers, and the features for the display driver are probably not turned on.
Not to mention, being that the radio has a different physical model number, the ability to enter the names for the zones and channels is undoubtedly disabled in CPS, so even if the display did work, what would it really do for you if you couldn't enter in the names?

The guts are all the same
This goes for the MT, PR and XTS1500s, as well as the XTS2500

While that is correct Jeff, I still don't think it will work based on the fact that the radio is loaded with a model number for a non-display radio, hence you couldn't enter in any zone/channel name information.escomm wrote:The guts are all the same

Won't work.. If you plug a display in, all you'll get is the top icons ie, scan symbol, ta/direct, monitor speaker, battery gauge w/impress... No place to enter channel names in a mod 1 codeplug...

Stupidity creates job security!
If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..
CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Where did I say it would work? I said the guts are the same, and they are.d119 wrote:While that is correct Jeff, I still don't think it will work based on the fact that the radio is loaded with a model number for a non-display radio, hence you couldn't enter in any zone/channel name information.escomm wrote:The guts are all the same
