XTS5000 Fail 01/A2

Post by astrousa »

Has anyone heard of this fail code? Happened when swapping RF boards.

Thx!

01/A2 states reflashing of the tuning codeplug. I would try to re-align the unit since the RF board was replaced.

Are you saying that you are not able to read the radio at all with the replacement RF board installed?
The alignment has to be performed in the tuning software. The radio has to be read with the tuning software first.

Correct, the tuning software will not read the radio to go into tuning mode.

Thx!!

I guess the next question is why was the RF board replaced? Were you able to read the radio with the old RF board and without the failure code? What is the part number of the replacement board? What is the Host/DSP versions and what software version are you using?

Hello,

Using CPS 12. Able to read & write to the radio with CPS. Not able to read using the tuner. Using a serial cable not USB. Radio will not receive or transmit - gives the error. Radio has Host 9 & other it was tried on is host 3. Both radios give the same error. This is a new board, never installed in another radio.

I would make sure that that is the correct RF board for that particular unit.
Does the tuner software read other radios? If not un-install the tuner software then re-install.

If the radio is throwing the error and not TXing/RXing, sounds like a problem with the board. Considering, if I understand correctly, that you tried it in multiple radios and it threw the same error, I would suggest returning it for a replacement.

Yes, the tuning codeplug on the RF board is corrupted. From the service manual:
Error Code: 01/A2
Diagnostic Action: The radio should be sent to the depot for reflashing of the tuning codeplug followed by re-tuning of the radio.
If this was a brand-new RF board from Motorola, send it back for a replacement. If you can't return it and you're stuck with it, at minimum you will need to completely realign the RF board as all the tuning values are either blanked or corrupted.
