Motorola XTS5000 With XTVA Volume Control
We switched a year ago to an Astro P-25 trunked system. My car has a Motorola XTS5000 and an XTVA. It seems like the volume control on the XTVA is very touchy. With barely a motion it goes from too quiet to too loud. I have been finding myself using the volume control on the XTS5000, but it seems like I should be using the volume control on the XTVA. Does anybody have any thoughts on this issue?

Re: Motorola XTS5000 With XTVA Volume Control
regarding volume control on the XTVA, are you talking about the small knob on the cradle next to the release button or the volume rocker switch on the HHCH?

I am talking about the small rotary knob on the cradle next to the release button. (I don't have a hand held control head.)

I played with this some more today. What seems odd is that sometimes it seems like only the volume control on the XTS5000 is active and other times it seems like only the volume control on the XTVA is active.

- What radios do you own?: Motorola/Kenwood
Re: Motorola XTS5000 With XTVA Volume Control
have you tried to clean the contacts on both the xtva and the radio?
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

I've seen this behavior immediately after inserting the radio into the XTVA. On occasion, after first inserting the radio, the volume will be very low. Just touching the volume on the XTVA (on HHCH) will return it to the XTVA's previous volume setting. Is that what you're seeing (not that I have a solution for this problem)...Jim1348 wrote:It seems like the volume control on the XTVA is very touchy.
