XTS3000 issue

I took in an XTS3000 for service at the MSS I work at. Originally the issue was a problem with the B+ connector where pressure on the housing in the right spot would interrupt power. I replaced the B+ connector, but since then, the radio has failed to function.

I read a couple posts about normal behavior of an inhibited XTS300, but I dont believe this is the case. I also spoke with a county dispatcher and they are sure they did not disable it. When the radio is turned on, the screen "flashes" but so quickly that you can't see anything intelligible. After the flash, there is nothing displayed on the screen and no audio. No buttons or switches function, and the green LED stays on. The strange part is that after you rotate the knob to the off position, the LED stays on. I am also able to read it and write to it with CPS.

All the service I have done was ESD-safe, and I have tried multiple B+ connectors including the old one. No changes. It is a legit radio that came from a local PD.

Make sure all the boards in the radio are tight, and that the pressure-fit contact pass-thru's are aligned properly. I've also seen this happen when the LCD flex is not aligned properly and the display clips cause a short.

Double check your display alignment and CAREFULLY look at the flex and display flex clips - betcha there's a problem there. IIRC, it was one of the flex clip fingers that ended up underneath the flex.

In my case it wasn't detrimental to the radio, I just fixed it, benched the radio and all was good.

Good catch... It was the display flex not seated properly. Everything checks out fine now.

If I didn't know the radio's history, I would have sworn it was inhibited.
