Astro Spectra power issue

Post by TWL911 »

I have a k split, high power Astro spectra, installed with a siren amp. Any time the siren is unplugged from the accy 25 pin connector the radio shuts off. The radio was installed by shop that I've had problems with before. I have not checked the ignition sense lines from the control head yet. I need to reprogram this radio, I haven't yet ripped into troubleshooting, and I'm not really familiar with the siren amps. could the amp be providing ignition sense to the drawer if the control head lines were connected improperly ????

Is it rebooting or shutting off and staying off'?

Are you unplugging the siren amp when the radio is on, thus causing it to shut off, or is it the case that if the suren amp is disconnected, the radio will not turn on (or both)?

Sounds to me maybe like the radio body/radio mains power ground might not be the best, and the radio is getting its ground via the siren amp. Just a guess though...
