XTS2500 Stupid Question

Hey guys,

Im in a mixed environment, some agencies use trunking digital, others use non trunking digital channels and most use conventional analog. Im looking at buying a XTS from a friend, but he doesnt seem to know the answer on the question below. So im throwing this one out to the experts, batlabs!

My question is will the XTS2500 work in conventional analog? Does it need any particular firmware change or type? If yes to the first question, how many channels?

I looked all over google but didn't get much info.

Yes, all XTS will do conventional analog.

Channels will depend on what model number and firmware your talking about.
M1 will do 48 channels
M2 will do from 256 to 1000 channels (depending on its firmware)
M3 will do 512 to 1000 channels (depending on firmware)

I think your getting the XTS2500 confused with the XTS3000. While the XTS2500 does have separate flashcode options for 3600 and 9600 interop, the firmware for both options is the same accross the board. The XTS3000 has the 9600 flash option "and" seperate 9600 firmware..

An XTS5000 with 9600 will intrinsically do 3600, not so with a 2500.

When the 2500 was initially released it could do 9600 alone or 3600 alone but not both. Later they added the ability to do both but that takes a different option [and flash code] than a 5000.
