I currently have a NTN8610BR Li-Ion (non-impress) that is a number of years old that I need to replace that I see on MOL is cancelled.
My question is if the NTN9862C, that is 2750MAH instead of 1650MAH, similiar in thickness or is the NTN9862C closer to the NNTN6034 (4100 MAH) thickness?

Re: NTN9862C Thickness question
The 9862, if memory serves, it just slightly thicker than the 8610 (think a tenth of an inch). It is still significantly slimmer than the 4100mAh brick. I carry the 9862s as my primary carry battery because it snugs the radio up against my side and is lighter than the big batteries.KS4VT wrote:I currently have a NTN8610BR Li-Ion (non-impress) that is a number of years old that I need to replace that I see on MOL is cancelled.

And, of course, acquire yourself an impres charger so you get the full functionality of the 9862.

Re: NTN9862C Thickness question
I've already got the impess charger so yes I will be taking advantage of the extra feature.
Thanks for the quick reply and yes I like the way the radio sits with the thinner battery but the one I have just doesn't seem to hold a full days charge expecially on the weekend.

Re: NTN9862C Thickness question
Yep... the 8610s are all getting pretty old. Also, keep in mind LiIon chemistry - they don't degrade over time nearly as bad as a NiCd or NiMH, but, when they do start failing, they fail fast. Alas, my 9862Bs (2.75Ah) will be 3 years old in May - they all have about 120 cycles on them, and they're only showing about 65% capacity at full charge. They'll last a day, but not much more. Unfortunately, with 5 of them on hand at $100/ea., that hurts...KS4VT wrote:I've already got the impess charger so yes I will be taking advantage of the extra feature.![]()

Re: NTN9862C Thickness question
I have had the xts2500 li-ion and very happy with the performance of them which is why I was looking for a thinner alternative to the 4000 ma battery.
