MTS2000 Firmware Question

Post by vgabnd »

So I have looked and I cannot see exactly what I am experiencing so perhaps someone can point me in the right direction. I have an MTS2000 purchased from ebay and I'm trying to program it. When I use the MTS2000 CPS R.02.02.00 it reads fine, however even if I try and read and immediately write I get a strange result. It read 1CSQ on the display for approx 1 second then the green status LED comes on and it goes into self-test. Then back to what ever code-plug is in there now. Radio shows to have FW R05.14 in it. I am using a windows XP machine with a real serial port. And my cable programs my HT1000's flawlessly. Thoughts??

In my experience MTS2000's with that FW need to be programmed with RSS. I have some with FW 6.+ & they work with CPS, but my 5.42 & 5.41 radios will only work with RSS. Hope this helps. GARY N4KVE

Yes actually. I wasn't sure of the cutoff on FW versions. I would prefer to bring it up to speed to I can use CPS instead. Thanks!
