Ht1000 NTN7143 Motorola battery warning

A warning to all out there that Motorola has changed the standard HT1000/MT2000 NTN7143 NiCad battery to a NiMH battery.

We have many customers that prefer a NiCad for various reasons and was caught off gaurd with this change (no warning). We have switched to an after market battery for those applications.

You may want to consider the NTN7144CR which is a NiCD or better yet the HNN9028 Impres NiCD.

Very weird that Motorola changed chemistry types but kept the same base part number. In fact it's downright dumb to be honest

We have considered the NTN7144, but it is a fatter battery and does not fit the customer's leather case.

I agree on the poor choice that Motorola made here is not discontinuing the NTN7143 and creating a new # for the sub. I have never seen this before. I suspect it is related to downsizing and remaining people not have proper background/experience to make these decisions.

I wonder if they even bother to affix a warning label advising the customer NOT to charge them in the older charger like they do with the other NiMH Jedi batteries? I guess it's another reason to sell your customers the Intellicharge 2 or IMPRES SUC's!

They did this with the XTS battery also. The 9858B was Nicad, the 9858C is Impres.

I'm glad you brought this to our attention. I, for one, don't want any NiMH or LiON radio batteries. Standard NiCaD's properly maintained on a slow charger will outlast anything else out there, Including the overpriced Impres systems and batteries.
