MOF230 Radio Specs
Anyone know the operating specs of the Motorola MOF230 200mhz handhelds? Specifically the number of channels and types of signalling they do? I'd like to have a 220 HT that does mre than 18 channels. Anyone have a picture of one of them?

A bit OT, but what about the HT1250LS+ 220MHz radios? Did anyone ever find a way to convert those to operate on the amateur band? I suppose if one was converted to just a standard HT1250, theoretically you'd get at least 64 channels...

www.batlabs.com wrote:The MOF 230 radio was made in the USA for a very large custormer, the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, hence the name IMOF that pops up on the display when the radio is powered up. Motorola made about 1200 or so mobiles, Jedi portables and repeaters (2 mobiles and a duplexer) and called them all the MOF 230, with about 150 extras that are floating around the ham population. The software is a Windows based lab version that programs the mobiles and portables. The portable itself operates from 210-270 MHZ but is not really that different from the MT-2000 in operation.
The radio was designed at Motorola's Toronto Engineering group. It is basically a VHF hybird, from the information gleamed from the engineers. The mobile is about 30 Watts.

The 220 HT1250LS+ only does a maximum of 18 channels in conventional mode, although with DTMF and full MDC. There is also no conventional-only equivalent to the radio to my knowledge. I have one HT1250LS+ and one I converted to an HT750, but it really would be nice to have more channels.

Do you care to share with the rest of us how you got it to operate on the 220MHz amateur bands? It being the HT1250, of course.
Re: MOF230 Radio Specs
Did anyone figure out how to move an HT1250LS to the 220 ham band? I am looking at one, and I'm curious.
