All Zones & Channels must be programmed?

Post by Do-Anything »

Hi all,
Went to program my 5K using CPS version R12.00.00 and got an error message telling me the Code plug was invalid and I had to Program all Zones and Channels
to enable me to write to the radio. Whats up with that? Can anyone tell me how I should proceed? I do not want all the zones enabled. I searched the forum and didn't find this issue anywhere. Thanks, Darrell
Radio:
XTS5000
Firmware: R08.01.01
DSP: R08.00.00

If it's a 5A9008-101E87-8 flashcode, don't try and program it with anything higher than CPS R09.xx.xx

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Thanks guys for the quick replies. Yes it a 5A9008 radio. What is going on with this?
What has been changed to cause this error?

FPP has been reconfigured in CPS R10 and above, and the new CPS wants the codeplug to be laid out in the new format before it will write the radio. Beware though, if you reconfigure it the way it wants, and write the radio, you will loose FPP due to the fact that CPS R10 and above requires Q52+Q53 in the flashcode for it to work.

If you can avoid it, there is really no reason to program it with R12 CPS, as you will not gain any of the new features since your radio has R08 firmware.... Stick with R09.xx.xx CPS on that radio, there really aren't all that many changes from R09 to R12 anyway..

Ok, understood. Thanks again for the help. It has been a good long time since I had to program anything into this radio.
So I just thought I would install the newest CPS sent to me by Motorola. Go figure they would trash my radio and then ask for
a handout to fix it.
