Are GP380 charger bases electrically the same as the HT1250 ones?
I have 3 NTN9000B chargers I got with some GP380's and they came with the european 220 wall warts (16 volts output), I junked those and tried a 16V output adaptor I have for my PR400, and also a 13.8 volt one for a GP300 rapid charger....and with both, the chargers get extremely hot near the plug on the charging base, to the point it hurts to touch them....
My question is, is there a difference between the charger bases between the 220 and 110 volts chargers? or did I get some faulty chinese motorola knockoff?

I never heard about this before.
I have some original Motorola Waris rapid chargers with the 18V power supply.
I use them mostly with a 13V selfmade power supply.Nothing is extremly hot, when they are in use.You should check the plug and the jack for some dirt or bad solder joints.

no difference on the base, 13vdc is 13vdc no matter how you transform it. you can even wire them to your cars 12v system. the hot part may be a bad battery? does it charge fully and turn green and cool off?

Whoa, let me get this straight. While most wall warts for Motorola chargers are 12-13.8 volts the Waris series Tri Chem wall warts are 18 volts. The charging base says runs on 18 volts. Can you safely use a 12-13.8 wall wart or lighter plug in the car to run the charging base. Same deal on Tri chem charger for Jedi/ Astro Saber. 18 volt wall wart, 18 volts written on charger. These safely run on 12 volts? GARY N4KVE

Im pretty sure these arnt the real NTN9000B chargers, I dont have one to compare right at the moment, but if memory serves these do look different inside....anywhom....traced the problem to a bad resistor....replaced and voila!

Re: HT1250 / GP380 Chargers
ya, you can use a smaller wall wart it just won't fully charge the battery. i know alot of guys still like to use the ht1000 1.5amp wall warts with the ht1250 chargers
