Seems if you upgrade an Astro 25 that previously did not have channel announcement with a firmware version that does include channel announcement, the firmware upgrade will change the flashcode of the radio in the process of upgrading the firmware to reflect the addition of channel announcement. Although channel announcement is a "firmware" feature it will end up changing the flashcode as the bits that tell the radio "hay d00d yuo can channel announce!!!!11!11eleven" reside in the flashcode and the memory
Just FYI, this will cause radios to have the guts not match the tags (and as i am finding out the hardway) will complicate flash upgrades if you bump the firmware first

Re: Flashcode oddities//Channel Announce
Yup, you are correct.. When you perform a firmware refresh with CPS on an older XTS5000 that has a flashcode of lets say 100001-000000-7, when it's done with the upgrade, the flashcode will be changed to 100001-000002-x automatically by the CPS when it updates the codeplug structure during the process, since Q446 and Q806 have been paired together for some time now....

Stupidity creates job security!
If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..
CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.
