Fireground accountability system with non-featured radios

Has anyone used radios (XTS2500) that do not have the Fireground Accountablity feature in a setting were the Fireground Accountability System is operating?

What features, if any, will work?

Reason I am asking is that our sister agency that we respond with every day on the same TRS is going to the Fireground Accountability System and I need to have some kind of idea if we will still be able to communicate.
