Smartzone 4.1

Post by feltonjames »

I am working with the Motorola Smartzone 4.1 system and looking to upgrade to the "Z" release. Does anyone have any information on what needs to upgraded with this, or know if consoles become Vista compatible? Any information would be appreciated.

Depends on what you have for hardware, but in general all "smart" cards (ie: COIMs, LOMIs, etc) will require their firmware upgraded, along with the 'Z' release softwares for the consoles & server(s). I'm about 95% sure you won't be Vista compatible...I know the 'Z' release for 3.5 was only WinXP SP1. Definitely something you want to get Motorola involved with to ensure:

1) A smooth transition.
2) Their engineering expertise if it doesn't go smoothly.

Got a couple of these going on ... I concur get motorola involved you will have to supply them with version info for just about everything and depending on those numbers depends on what "Needs" to be updated... But a quick list would be every card in the ceb needs new firmware , quantars need new firmware, astrotacs needs firmware, controllers need sw update, zone servers need sw update, diu needs fw, aeb needs fw, consoles postions need xp sp2 and new sw, console server needs server 2003 and sw update...
