HT1250 beep while transmitting

Post by arlojanis »

I have a VHF HT1250 with an Otto evolution mic. Sometimes while transmitting, the speaker will give a low pitch beep. The battery is fully charged. What can cause this?

Is it more like a beep or more like a boop?

It is more like a boop or an unprogrammed button being pushed.

does it always do it at about the same time into the transmission, like 2 or 3 seconds?

are any signalling systems being used and does the radio cease transmitting when the boop comes out or does it continue transmitting as normal

the tone is not battery related

No signaling systems on the test channel. Transmission keeps on like normal.

shure sounds like a sidetone to me letting you know it's ok to start talking especially since it does it every time at the same time

Tone only happens every once in a while. Some days the tone does not happen.

I had a 1250 do this, turns out one of the side buttons on the radio was really sensitive/almost stuck. When I used a speaker/mic, it would randomly beep every now and again (just the short, you can't do that beep. A "pressing your dynamic priority button while you are NOT scanning" beep). If I used the PTT on the radio, it would do it more often.

I ended up selling the radio years back in that condition.
