New Computer Suggestions?

Post by fchrist16 »

Alright guys,

My MW-520 isn't quite cutting the demand for what I need in my car. I am thinking of upgrading to a Panasonic ToughBook CF-29 but what your opinions! 8)

All suggestions are more than welcome! :)

Get a -18 or a -19. The 29s don't have the tablet feature, which enables you to rotate the display and let it sit flat on the mount and be used like a tablet, the earlier models (if you go used) top out at about a gig for ram, and also miserably accessible USB ports under covers that require you to shave your usb male ports with a knife to make it fit WAY inside the chassis for connection. Don't know if the later iterations of the model line improved on that, as my weekender at work has a early 29 in it, and i pray for the day for a "new one" to show up after this one falls out of the mount, and onto the highway during a turn. :-)
but i would never do that.

i swear.

Try opening up the back flap. See if there isn't a USB port there also. Looking at
the rear, it should be on the left.

Alright so with that answered here's another question...

What's the pro/con list of the -18 v. -19?

Big Brother locked them into the mounts, and the backs are inaccessible. Sucks, huh?
