On a VHF XTS3K and VHF Astro Spectra Mobile running pretty current firmware, 7.70 and 11.7. respectively, I have a query as to why the Caller ID to Alias conversion table doesn't seem to be working in P25 conventional on these radios.
Both radios work properly, have the proper "Enhanced Caller ID Flash" in the flashcode, and I can see the alias on the XTS3K when I call alert one of my friends. But when I receive the call from the other unit only the number shows up on the display and not the alias. I find this not to be the case with the VHF XTS2500 and VHF XTL1500 mobile that I also own and they work properly using an identical table.
Is this something these two radios aren't capable of or am I missing something.

You've nailed it, XTS3000 and Astro Spectra don't alias.
However, they will show soft ID text.

Re: XTS3K & Astro Mobile Caller ID - Alias conversion question
It's correct that XTS3000 will not show text alias in P25 Conventional mode? I.e. Astro CPS have this option (Astro Call List > Astro Call List - 1), but it does not working? If YES, why this feature implemented in CPS, but really not used on XTS3000/Astro Saber/Astro Spectra radios?

Re: XTS3K & Astro Mobile Caller ID - Alias conversion question
It wont' work because the radio does not support it. See post #2 in this thread.
Why is it there? because some users actually use the call list to call radios. Instead of having to type in the radio's number, they can go through the list and select the aliased one. This is also helpful in limited keypad radios.
If you need astro aliasing, you will need to get the XTS2500, 5000, Astro Spectra PLUS, XTL2500, 5000, etc etc. Astro 25 line. Otherwise it won't work.
Another option for aliasing is by running soft-id on all the radios. It will display whatever the tx radio's programmed ID is on all receiving radios that support soft-id.
