XTL5000 FAIL 01/90

Post by RonJeremy »

I have a XTL5000 remote mount with W9 ctrl head and I did not use it for 2 weeks. Now it shows FAIL 01/90 at power up. Nothing has been changed, cables are correctly connected.

Any idea of what the problem is?

Check the ignition sense +12V and the main +12V into the back of the transceiver. That is the first place to start. I have had many of these with this issue and one or the other above listed was the issue. You may also check your main ground as well and make sure that is sound as well.

It's a general error code which basically is telling you the head is getting power, but it cannot communicate to the transceiver. As the previous poster said, check your power going to the transceiver, definitely the most common issue. It could also be the interconnect cable (unlikely unless it was damaged, or installed in such as way so as to wear through somewhere & break some wires). Lastly it could actually be a hardware fault within the transceiver or control head, but those are few & far between.
