XTS3000 secure modules

Post by gmilhouse »

Hi Everyone,

I have a few questions regarding secure modules for my XTS3000. I want a module that has DES-XL and DES-OFB and I have seen one advertised on this site which also does AES-256. I was wondering if I need a KVL3000 to program this chip or if the older keyloaders (T3011dx) will do the DES portions? Will a chip with only DES-XL on it communicate with other radios that have multiple algorithms so long as the other chip also has DES-XL?? Do I need to install any new software or upgrade firmware etc?? I have version 7.1 firmware.

Thanks

A 3011DX will load DES keys fine on a board that also has AES on it, it just wont load the AES keys, you'll need the 3000+ (not the 3000) for that.

The -XL only board will talk to other radios with multiple algos fine. Just be sure the radios with multiple algos are set for DES-XL tx default in the codeplug on a personality basis.

Firmware wise you should be fine, you need at least R7.x to use UCM's.
