im assisting a friend with his vrs750, he got it up and running, but the rx squelch is toooooo tight and requires a very strong signal to get into it.
for example the 2 watts it puts out, goes about 8 miles on a base antenna, but getting into it, a 30 watt mobile can be no more than 4 miles away. multiple radios have been tested, multiple antennas have been tested. its a squelch issue
does anyone know how to loosen the squelch threshold on the RX side of the VRS?
thanks,
wazz

Yes, you need to run Waris tuner and plug a programming cable w/RIB into the front connector on the VRS unit. It's an HT750 inside, of course.wazzzzzzzzup wrote:im assisting a friend with his vrs750, he got it up and running, but the rx squelch is toooooo tight and requires a very strong signal to get into it.

The pinout slips my mind, but if you have the FCC ID number, enter it into the FCC OET website and you can get an early version of the service manual complete with the service cable pinouts... it's what I did.
The purpose of a VRS though isn't for mobile and base stations to get into it from miles away though. It's to allow a portable user outside of the car access to the high power mobile in the car. The squelch is tight because range should be limited. Your post makes it seem like you've got another arrangement which would be interesting to know more about.
