APX and XTS4000 charger adapters

did a search, i didn't see these mentioned.

these are INSERTS for the 4k and 7k that enable one to use a standard WPLN4111 impres charger:


XTS 4000: PMLN5429A ($30ish bux)

APX 7000: NNTN7687A ($30 ish bux) -- single unit adapter
NNTN7686A ($30 ish bux) -- multi-unit charger adapter


better than buying another charger i suppose......and certainly beats an old nikon camcorder(?) charger, alligator clips and bugaagoggbooboo the charging god....as shown below......(no, not my desk, thanks)

It exists, but it is only available with the NNTN7392A Battery Reader kit. The kit also includes an adapter to use the WPLN4111 to charge Waris Impres batteries. I tried to get the product group to activate the parts for individual ordering and was told to go pound sand

For those of you who have KVL3000(+) you can order the Visar battery adapter cup, PN: PMLN5122A, for $14.

This will not fit in a rack charger though. Cheaper than buying the Honeywell KVL XTS battery adapter....

True, but unless you've had good luck with Visar batteries (I haven't), using a Li-Ion XTS battery on a KVL is the way to go instead of waiting for a worthless Visar battery to charge.

If you're still using actual Visar radios in some capacity, this isn't an issue. But to keep a Visar battery and charger around only to power a KVL once in a while seemed like a waste.

How do you use a LiIon XTS battery on a KVL? I have one and don't see how that would work...

Yup, I agree 100%. However, $14 for the adapter for the "SUC" is much better than $225, and you eliminate the need for the Visar charger.

I got the adapter for the Visar / KVL3000 Plus just now, and it's cool. Cheap, too! One thing I remember about Motorola battery adapters (MX/STX - Saber)was that they were a pain in the ass to swap back and forth. I just did it with the IMPRES, and it was a solid, good fit, but not a struggle to remove! Awesome. Easy swap. They got this one right - especially the price!

I put the KVL3000 Plus in it and the IMPRES charger gave me the yellow conditioning light. Does anyone know if this will in fact condition these crappy Visar batteries? If it does; it would be great to extend the life of them - even if it's just a little bit. My modded display just says Non-IMPRES Battery, so I won't be getting any stats on it.

On another weird note: For the past several months, when I've placed an order with Motorola - no matter what time of the day that I ordered it on MOL; it spent the rest of that day and an ENTIRE next day in "Credit Analyst". Motorola unceremoniously dropped my credit line after 15 years with a perfect payment record; simply because I wasn't averaging $1000.00 a month in parts orders! Ridiculous! None the less; I've just been using my credit card on orders. No biggie. But; why in the hell does it sit in a credit analysts office for a day and a half or two days when I placed the order on a credit card??? No logic. Used to be; I could order anything that was in stock up until 5:00 Central Time and it shipped the same day. Anyone else experiencing this?

I believe that Motorola yanked net terms on all parts-only accounts. I wasn't aware there were any left that weren't required to pay by credit card. I guess if you buy enough they can change the rules, but nonetheless the official line is that all parts accounts must prepay. Also, the same day ship cutoff is 4PM central time, has been for as long as I can remember.

It's weird and unfair, but; hey; it;s their company. The strange thing is; in 1992 when I opened my account with them; I became what they referred to as an NSO (National Service Organization). I had to jump through all sorts of hoops to do that - buy a service monitor, and other equipment that they considered a "bare minimum" for a Motorola shop. They also required that I run a daily ad in an Atlanta area paper 1/6 of a page, minimum three colors for six weeks. Can you even imagine what that cost me - even back in 1992??? So; somewhere around 2-3 years ago; they uncermoniously eliminated NSO from their vernacular; and I became a "parts only" customer and my credit line was dropped. Now; the local sheriff's office - with 20 radios total was able to become a "parts only" customer with a credit line. They bought all the CPS for their Quantar, Astro Spectras, and XTS5000's without blinking. Ditto the programming cables. They did, however, screw them and sold them a Smart Rib, which doesn't surprise me.

OK; I'm taking this once good topic, and taking it into left field - again! Just a gripe of mine... Sorry.

Oh, GREAT! Now it's flashing yellow which means "See Manual". That can't be a good sign. And that battery is less than two years old. Sucks to be me.

Good news! I yanked it out of the charger a couple of times and forced it into "conditioning" mode. It stayed yellow until 0322 thsi morning. at 0530 it went "RED" meaning that it was charging... A hour or so later it was flashing green, and went solid green around 0633. I'm leaving it in there since it's a legacy battery, and I'm hoping that a day or so will only improve it's chances...
