Re: XTS2500 refresh/flash kits
What would you like to know? Firmware refreshes simply lift the firmware version up to the latest, without altering the flashcode of the radios. You might do this primarily for bug fixes, although if you have some very old firmware in the radio, the newest firmware & CPS can give much expanded channel capacity, among other things. AFAIK, the refreshes can be ordered through any Motorola dealer, the cost to the dealer being $75/refresh. They may charge more than that, as it does take time to perform the refreshes.
If you wish to add features, the process is a little different. It is similar to the refresh, in that you will get the latest & greatest firmware version, with the additional feature(s) you ordered. The cost varies depending on what feature(s) you are adding...adding trunking to a conventional-only radio, or adding digital capability to an analog-only radio will each run you many hundreds of dollars. Other features are less. Generally only larger dealers with good relationships with their Motorola area dealer rep can get these flashes, and you would need to give a list of the radio serial numbers so Motorola can update their database as to what features your radios will now contain.

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.
