I think the A9 head on a Spectra is ugly...just my opinion. The A9 head is also too big for the install I am working on. Can I run a DEK on a A7 or A5 head? While I am asking, can I run a DEK with a HHCH on a Spectra?
I have looked and can't find the answer to this question. Every picture of a DEK on a Spectra I have seen has been with the A9 head, so it makes me wonder if you have to have an A9 head.
Thank you!

you can use a DEK with any Spectra head. Actually, you can use up to 3. But one A7/5/4 head plus a DEK is going to be the same height as a A9, so how is that going to help you?

You need a remote mount A5/A7 head with the 50 pin Systems 9000 connector on the back. If needed the A5/A7 control head back can be changed to this connector type with the correct parts. The RSS must select the "enhanced" control head. Then your A5/A7 head needs to be enhanced compatible (older heads are not compatible). Try using the RSS to program the control head back light default (an enhanced feature) and see if it works or not. If it works, your control head is enhanced compatible and you can use the DEK or DEKs. If it doesn't work, you cannot use any DEK with this A5/A7 head.
The A5/A7 head requires special brackets to mount a DEK with the control head.
The A9 head just works with DEKs and doesn't have these issues.

The HHCH is a totally different interface with Spectra command board changes just for the HHCH. Besides, each DEK is just a simple 8 key, 8 LED, + VIP serial data device that the control head actually runs. There is no micro/controller inside any DEK, so the DEK all by itself without the head is incomplete/unusable. I doubt you will be able to get a DEK to work with the HHCH radio.

The HHCH dual radio with the SIU has optional switch boxes for dedicated functions like Siren/PA, etc.
