Hey guys,

Im trying to figure out if I can make a cross over cable of some sort. I want to be able to hook up a portable (ht 1250) to our crosspatch repeater using a standard RJ 45 end (mimicking a CDM mic input pinout). I have a lapel mic to donate to this project and have five wires coming from one end of it red, blue, green, yellow, black, Can someone guide me as to what color wire i should put in relation to pin position on the RJ 45 end as to mimic a CDM Mic? or just what color wire relates to what function on a HT lapel mic would work just as well.

I would suggest that you slow down a little and consider just what you are trying to accomplish.

You really need some sort of controller or interface between the portable and your repeater (which
I don't think you have identified) that can control the audio level and PTT duration and tail times. If
something gets locked up, you want the system to time out and not lock up all the radio channels
that you have interconnected. This is not a good thing to happen if this is being used in a Public
Safety application. Plus your walking of soft ground with the radio license probably not set up for
repeater operation.

He wants to hook up a shoulder mic for an HT1250 to a CDM1250 mic jack. Really not rocket science. Compare pin outs, refer to service manual, and git'er done.

Go back and read it again. I read he wants to hook his HT1250 portable to his cross patch repeater using
the RJ45 connector. He is willing to cut up a speaker mic cable to do it.

Unless my English has failed, that is what his first sentence says. I am not on a soap box, but just
recommending that some thought be put into what he is trying to do.

Thanks for the advice Jim, I had forgotten to mention the existing "black Box" That we have to control the current four CDM radios hooked into the system. This is for our mobile command post and the idea is that a other agency can come in and hook up their portable to our system and be able to cross patch (mostly for simplex operations) . does that clear things up a little better?

If you go to the batlabs site and get into the portable list, select the HT1550. A bit down the page
is a heading of portable. They give you 2 choices of pages to go to. One is a picture of the accessory
cable connector and the other is a wiring diagram that includes the pinout for the side of the radio.
