XTS2500 / Waris Batteries

Post by d119 »

I know this has been discussed here many times but for the life of me I cannot find the posts.

Whats the skinny on using Waris batteries & chargers with the XTS 2500 radios?

What works, what doesn't?

What is the difference between the XTS batteries and the Waris batteries?

Waris batteries work on XTS2500s thanks to the HT1550 having battery contacts in a different position. You will need a Waris charger for these batteries or a stack of quarters, they will not fit in the XTS charger and the charging contacts don't line up.

You can use some (not all) XTS2500 batteries on the Waris. Example, NTN9858C cut back the label under the contacts and you will find another set of contacts, perfect for the HT1250. Example, NNTN7735A cut back the label under the contacts and you will find 3 vents, this battery will not work with the HT1250. You will need the XTS charger for the batteries.

So there is nothing wrong with using Waris batteries and chargers on an XTS2500 then. OK.

What radios do you own?: XTS2500, XTS5000, and MTS2000

the battery charge indicators don't function on the XTS2500 when using Waris batteries (at least on the two XTS2500i's and one 2500 I own)

The "I" on 2500's is equivalent to the "R" on 5000's... It's submersible..

Stupidity creates job security!

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

I have been mixing and matching for a few years without any problems. As mentioned, the 2500 won't read the data from the battery, but it will push juice just fine 8)
