I have a VHF XTS5000R Model III with an 123ABC1234 S/N and I need to upgrade my firmware to the latest. I have an account with Motorola. Can I do this or do I have to send it in to have it done. I'm a little leary to send it in as they probably won't give me the time of day due to the S/N. I am running CPS R12.00.00. What is the best way to go about this? I'm looking for an MDC Decode feature that looks like I won't get until I update the firmware.
Thanks,
Nick

If it a firmware uplift they typicially do not ask for serial #'s.
See if you can order it through a local MSS and do the labor yourself. It isn't that difficult.

We had a guy come in with one of the 123ABC radio and we tried to upgrade it and the software kept kicking it back. it would not allow an upgrade

Probably because it had a development codeplug in it, not just because it had a default serial number.

If you get it to flash I would love to know how, He would be happy LOL
Thanks for the info

I had no trouble flashing my R8 123ABC1234 XTS2500 to R12.00.18 just this week. Worked fine.

Without the specifics, it's going to be very hard for anyone to help you. Need to know the model, current host, and any error messages you were getting from CPS during the attempt to refresh the firmware.Jon66 wrote:maybe, But twe could program it fine and it still would not let he Firmware flash go.
