XTS4000 UCM Swap

Post by Fuel4300 »

I have two XTS4k's, one with ADP only and another DES/DVP/AES/ADP. I would like to swap the UCMs to get to the multiple algorithms in the one that has only ADP.

Has anyone had a 4k apart? I haven't been able to find a good exploded diagram - the DSM is not very helpful. I am not even sure the UCM is a separate component in these radios. It has its own P/N but I thought I had read somewhere it was integrated into the main board.

The XTS4000 UCM is located in the front flip assembly. Directions for disassembly are available in the BSM, as well as exploded diagrams.

What is the Pub # for the BSM?

My MOL shows a DSM, User Guide, and Quick Start Guide but no Basic Service Manual.

Thanks.

Should have said, front housing assembly. Either way, according to the BSM, the UCM is sandwitched between the main keypad and the speaker - it is not part of the chassis assembly.

BSM 8.6.1 shows how to separate the front housing assy from the chassis assy, which involves removing 5 T7 screws from behind where the battery normally sits, and prying the two assemblies apart. There are two flexes that connect the assemblies. BSM 8.6.3 shows how to get to the UCM, which involves removing a seal, 4 T6 screws, and a flex.
