xts3000 programming issue

Post by fallspolice »

I just picked up an xts3000 here on the board, and I am having problems programming it. I keep getting an error message that says " communication with radio failed". I know it is because I am now running the cps on my windows 7 laptop that doesn't have a serial port. I am trying to run it through using usb. I tried to change the port selection under view/options of the cps, but com 3 is the only one there in the drop down box. I have tried all 3 usb ports on my laptop with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Is it 64-bit? If so you are SOL.
The bandsplit is only a suggestion.

Many of the older radio software are not supported for Win 7. I could be wrong, but it
may help you to find an XP operating system computer.

Plus if your not using the Saber software on the XTS3000, it probably won't read the
radio. I am not at work, so can't provide the software part number for you. You can't
use the normal XTS5000 software on the 3000 radio.

It's the 64 bit Windows 7 operating system that is preventing it. Thanks to all who replied!

Since you are running the 64 bit version of Windows 7, install XP mode which is a free download from Microsoft. The download installs a full version of XP professional as a virtual machine while Windows 7 is running. You then "attach" your USB to serial adapter while running XP mode. CPS will run fine (since it's XP), and the USB to serial adapter will be recognized as a com port.
