XTS5000 - No Comm

Post by fchrist16 »

Anyone ever run into this error before? My friend who was on duty came by since the Radio Shop is closed because his radio shows No Comms. He is going to go swap out radio's but is worried that something bad happened with his while he was off duty.

Any ideas or help?

I've had this happen on an 800 trunking system.. As far as I can tell, it's when the radio see's the system, but for whatever reason fails at multiple attempts to affiliate.. Not sure on a rhyme or reason for it though.. It usually only does it once in a great while, and on 1 particular system.

Stupidity creates job security!

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Any easy fix besides having the radio shop re-program it?

you'll also see this message on any Astro 25 product if you enable radio wide TX inhibit on a menu and enable it. Seems to only show up on type II/mixed mode 3600 baud systems when the system polls the radio. It will bonk and display NO COMMS.

Thanks guys! I'll let him know not to worry and just to have the shop take a look at it.
